The City of Lakeland Police Department - Police Athletic League (PAL) National Mentoring Day took place at Simpson Park Community Center on Saturday April 19, 2014 in the City of Lakeland, Florida. Timothy Abram Senior Director of the Police Athletic League for the Lakeland Police Department and his TEAM Members reach-out to over 700 families and students; providing them with education enrichment programs, food, music and games. Police Athletic League (PAL) National Mentoring Day play a positive and major role on impacting the City of Lakeland North West Community, with a focus aimed on crime prevention. Mr. Tim Abram, Lakeland (PAL) Senior Director - Team mission and commitment is “filling colleges and universities, not prisons.” Mr. Abram also invited Dr. Shandale Terrell Administrative Assistant at Crystal Lake Middle School to be a guest speaker to the youth on the importance of: education, student achieving educational success in school and beyond, self-confidence, staying focus on their educational goals in school, not dropping out of school, informed the youth that athletics is short term - education is long term, getting involved in their after school and summer enrichment programs and giving back to their community in a positive way through community service.
The Lakeland PAL (Police Athletic League) had their Annual National PAL Mentoring Day. It was a fun filled event consisting of Vendors, Other Non-Profit Organizations, Religious Groups, High School Students, Youth or Students, Motivational Speakers, Bands, Comedian and Indie Artists. Tim Abram with the Lakeland (P.A.L) Hurricanes, R.E.A.C.H. Community Economic Development Corporation Inc., Triple L Social Development & others organizations who participated we want to "Thank you!"

I would like to thank everyone for your support at the National PAL Mentoring Day Event this past Saturday. We were able to reach over 700 children and families throughout the day and provide some good food and entertainment. Because of folks like you we are able to provide quality services to the citizens of our community and hold true to our commitment which is “Filling Playgrounds, Not Prisons”.
